Echo

If no one understands the user, Echo does.

Mission

Echo are anthropologists. They don't build products. They build understanding.

Echo turns noise into signal. Through user interviews, field observations, analytics, session recordings, telemetry, and Jobs-to-be-Done research, they surface the problems worth solving. Every product at Tribar starts with an Echo insight.

Why?

Echo's founding question — replacing "What should we build?" with "What is actually happening?"

What we measure

Intrapersonal

Individual user friction — how long does a single user spend confused?

How: Session replay analysis, rage-click tracking, task completion timeWhere: Production dashboards per feature, session replay toolWhen: After every deployment; reviewed weekly in Echo standupSignal: Completion rate drops below 80% or time-on-task increases >2xInstrument: Session replay (FullStory/LogRocket), RUM data, custom analytics events

Emotional response — how does the user feel before, during, and after?

How: Post-task surveys (1-5 emotional valence), sentiment analysis on support tickets, NPS segmentationWhere: In-app micro-surveys, support ticket tagging, CSAT follow-upsWhen: Continuous for surveys; quarterly deep-dive sentiment analysisSignal: Sentiment drops below 3.5/5 or NPS drops 10+ points in a segmentInstrument: In-app survey SDK, support platform sentiment tags, Qualtrics/Typeform
Interpersonal

User-to-user dynamics — how do shared or collaborative features flow?

How: Multi-user session observation, collaboration trace analysis, shared workspace analyticsWhere: Collaborative features (shared boards, team dashboards, commenting threads)When: During beta for any multi-user feature; quarterly for existing featuresSignal: Collaboration features have <30% weekly active usage among eligible usersInstrument: Feature adoption analytics, structured observation protocol
Collective

Cross-cohort behavior — do different user segments behave differently?

How: Cohort cluster analysis, behavioral segmentation, persona drift trackingWhere: Analytics warehouse, Echo's segment model (updated quarterly)When: Monthly cohort refresh; quarterly deep analysisSignal: A segment's behavior diverges >2σ from its persona modelInstrument: SQL analytics, Python clustering scripts, Looker/Tableau dashboards

Trend detection — what patterns emerge across the entire user base?

How: Unsupervised anomaly detection on key funnels, search query analysis, support ticket topic clusteringWhere: Automated trend detection pipeline, weekly trend reportWhen: Weekly scan; monthly trend review with AtlasSignal: A metric moves >15% week-over-week without a known causeInstrument: Anomaly detection system, NLP topic model on tickets, Looker anomaly tiles

Rhythms

Field immersion

Every 2 weeks

A team member spends a half-day observing users in their natural environment — on-site, remote, or in-app.

Prevents "office blindness" — the slow drift from user reality.

Insight handoff

Weekly

Top 3 validated insights presented to Atlas + Delta in a 30-minute sync.

Ensures research doesn't sit in a doc — it flows into the pipeline.

Opportunity review

Monthly

Full Echo team reviews all open opportunities, ranks by potential impact, and decides which to escalate.

Prevents the backlog of "interesting but not urgent" from drowning the signal.

Hypothesis market

Quarterly

Echo publishes its 10 best unanswered questions. Other tribes bet "fake currency" on which matters most. The winning question gets Echo's next sprint.

Gamifies curiosity and aligns research priorities with what other tribes sense.

Tools & artifacts

User model

document

Living document describing each user segment — goals, behaviors, pain points, JTBD. Updated after every significant research finding.

EchoAtlasDelta

Opportunity backlog

framework

Prioritized list of open questions and unmet user needs. Each entry has: signal strength, affected users, business impact estimate.

EchoAtlas

Session replay pipeline

automation

Automated session recording with AI-powered event tagging (rage clicks, dead clicks, hesitation points).

EchoPulse

Telemetry event catalog

document

Every analytics event we track, with definitions, expected values, and drift thresholds.

EchoPulseDelta

Trend radar

platform

Automated weekly scan of user behavior changes, anomaly detection, and emerging patterns.

Relationships

How Echo connects to every other tribe — what flows, when, and through what ritual.

The tribe under strain

To be the person who understands what everyone else has missed.

This is a protective pattern, not a verdict. It describes what can happen when the tribe's gift is driven by fear, anger, grief, scarcity, or status.

What activates it

Human pain is ignored, simplified, or used to justify a decision already made.

How it can appear

Echo can over-identify with users, claim moral authority through empathy, or turn private insight into leverage.

What it costs

Partners feel interpreted instead of heard, while Echo carries emotional weight nobody explicitly asked them to carry.

The integrated gift

Empathy with boundaries: deep listening that leaves people ownership of their own meaning.
